Is The Bible Just Another Book?

I often talk with people who say that they don’t believe the Bible. I tell them that is their choice, and I ask them if they have read the Bible. They usually say that they have not. Doesn’t it seem a bit unwise to reject the Bible without investigating it for one’s self? It seems especially unwise when the Bible is still the best-selling book in the world, and the book translated into the most languages. Millions of people for centuries have claimed that the Bible has changed their lives, yet there are still those who choose to reject its message without reading it for themselves.

It doesn’t take much effort to discover how unique the Bible really is. How could one book be unified in thought, even though it was written by forty earthly authors in three different languages over a period of over 1600 years? It’s hard enough to get three people to agree on something, let alone forty who haven’t lived in the same century!

The uniqueness of the Bible doesn’t stop there. Numerous detailed prophecies regarding Jesus Christ were given centuries before they came to pass exactly as prophesied.

The Bible wasn’t written as a science book, but because it was written by the Creator of science, when it spoke of scientific things, it was often very ahead of its time. For example, the Bible stated some scientific facts centuries before man figured them out:

Astronomy: 1) the earth is a sphere (Isaiah 40:22), 2) the earth is suspended in space (Job 26:7), 3) the sun is bigger than the moon (Genesis 1:16), 4) Every star is different (I Corinthians 15:41).

Biology and Medical: 1) the uniqueness of man’s hands, fingerprints (Job 37:7), 2) the life is in the blood (Leviticus 17:14), 3) the importance of quarantine in dealing with contagious diseases (Leviticus 13:46), 4) the need for running water for sanitation (Leviticus 15:13).

Physics and Technology: 1) condensation (Job 26:8), 2) air pressure (Job 28:25), 3) light travels (Job 38:19-20), 4) East does not intersect West (Psalms 103:12), 5) the hydrologic cycle (Ecclesiastes 1:7), 6) people around the world watching the same event at the same time (Revelation 11:9).

These are only a few of the many scientific proofs of the supernatural authorship of the Bible. Remember, these things were written thousands of years ago and most were only discovered or figured out in the past few centuries.

My challenge to you is this: don’t reject the message of the Bible without making sure for yourself that it is not a message from our Creator Himself!
